Hampton Police Hiring Process
The Hampton Police hiring process could be compared to completing a checklist. You must successfully complete each item
in order to move on to the next phase. For example, file a Job Application to be
notified about taking the Written Exam. You must pass the Written Exam to take the Physical Agility
Test. You must have a
Medical Clearance to take the Agility Test. Pass the Agility Test to move on to the Oral Board.

File a Job Application with us so we can notify you of testing.
- WRITTEN EXAM -
Score above the cutoff in a general aptitude test that includes spelling, grammar, math, maps, etc...
- PHYSICAL AGILITY -
Meet entry level standards for your age group. See our
Agility Standards for details. You must have a
Medical Clearance Form to test.
- ORAL BOARD -
Interview with three Veteran Officers posing questions and hypothetical situations.
- PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAM -
Testing and Interview to determine suitability for the rigors of Police work.
- POLYGRAPH -
Successfully complete a Polygraph exam regarding your background and behavior.
- BACKGROUND CHECK -
Intense analysis of Work history, Criminal & Motor Vehicle records, References, Credit reports, School & Military records.
- CERTIFICATION -
Successfully complete the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Part-Time Officer Academy.
- PHYSICAL EXAM -
Complete a Medical Examination and Drug Screen.
- TRAINING -
Successfully complete an intensive 100 hour Hampton Police Training program.
- PROBATION -
Successfully complete two summer seasons providing satisfactory service.
