5-Day Course for Law Enforcement Executives

The FBI - Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, Chief Richard Sawyer and the Hampton Police Department are pleased to announce a five-day Command Institute for Law Enforcement Executives being held in Hampton, New Hampshire on September 12-16, 2016.

The Command Leadership Institute (CLI) is part two of the three-step leadership series that makes up the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy. This class focuses on real life and contemporary strategies and techniques for those either in, or aspiring to reach, command level assignments.  Command Institute Faculty includes Executive level Law Enforcement experts with extensive leadership experience who are passionate instructors.  Command Institute students will be engaged in such topics as credibility, ethics, decision making, and dealing with problem employees.  The Command Institute is student centered with a high degree of student involvement.

The following is a basic outline for the Command Institute:

  • Module 2 – Credibility
    Characteristics of credibility in Leadership

  • Module 3 – Ethics
    Defining ethics
    Defining personal core values / ethical code of conduct
    Defining character and integrity
    Critical thinking in ethical decision-making
    The ethical action plan

  • Module 4 – Decision Making
    Decision-making choices and factors
    Normative Model of decision-making
    Three C’s of decision-making
    Hidden traps of decision-making

  • Module 5 – Managing the Problem Employee
    Noticing problem performance
    Understanding the causes of problem behavior
    Expectancy Theory
    Equity Theory
    Leader Member Exchange Theory

Registration and credential pickup will begin at 8:30am on Monday, September 12, 2016 and conclude at 12:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2016.  The class will be held at the Hampton Police Department, Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

    Cancellation Policy: FBI - LEEDA may cancel or postpone any program or activity because of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances.  If a program is canceled or postponed, FBI - LEEDA will refund registration fees but cannot be held responsible for any other related costs, charges or expenses, including cancellation/change charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies.  Requests for cancellation and/or substitution should be directed to Lynn Weber at lweber@fbileeda.org.  A $75 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds.  Requests for substitutions for another class or of another attendee for the same class will be accommodated whenever possible.  Additional fees will not be charged for reasonable substitutions.  Refunds will not be issued for ‘no shows”.  All registration fees must be paid prior to the start of the class.
